Can I repair the car before the assessment?

The short answer is to wait. The damage has to be recorded in its original state, and only after that does the appraiser calculate the restoration cost.

If the repairs have already started, message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you the next step.

What the law says

Neither the law nor the Rules require the insurer’s approval of repairs. But if repairs before the inspection do not allow the insured event and the extent of the loss to be established reliably, the insurer may refuse the payout in full or in part.

  • Law of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 192, Article 27, part 1Law of the Kyrgyz Republic dated 24 July 2015 No. 192 “On Compulsory Insurance of Civil Liability of Owners of Motor Vehicles”. The insurer may refuse the payout in full or in part if repairs before the inspection do not allow the insured event and the extent of the loss to be established reliably.
  • Rules of compulsory insurance, paras 58–62 and 67Rules of compulsory insurance of civil liability of owners of motor vehicles, Annex 1 to the Resolution of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic of 19 May 2020 No. 257, as amended on 8 October 2024. Para 67: if repairs before the inspection do not allow the insured event and the extent of the loss to be established reliably, the insurer refuses the payout in full or in part. Paras 58–61: the car is presented to the insurer and inspected within the time set out in these paragraphs; if the car cannot be driven, the inspection takes place where it stands. Para 62 and Article 19, part 3 of the law: if the insurer has not inspected the car in time, the victim may order an expert assessment, and the insurer accepts its results.

Why repairs before the assessment get in the way

Repairs before the assessment get in the way, because the restoration cost is calculated from the damage the appraiser sees on the car. The appraiser inspects the car in person, photographs every damage and prepares a defect list: the damaged parts and the parts to be replaced.

If the damage has been repaired or the parts replaced before the inspection, the appraiser cannot see it in its original state. After a repair, the extent of the damage can no longer be confirmed.

Where the car is now

The steps depend on whether the car can be driven. In any case, do not start repairs before the inspection.

  • If the car can be driven, we inspect it in person. We agree on the time in advance, on WhatsApp or by phone.
  • If the car cannot be driven, or it is at an impound lot or a repair shop, the appraiser comes to where the car is, within Bishkek and the suburbs. Tell us this when you contact us and give the address. If the car is already at a repair shop, ask the staff not to start any work before the inspection.

Step by step

  1. Do not start repairs

The damage has to stay in its original state until the inspection.

  2. Photograph the damage

Photograph every damaged area and record a video. Send the photos and the video on WhatsApp: we agree on the price of the assessment based on them.

  3. Agree on the time of the inspection

Message us on WhatsApp or call to agree on the time.

  4. The appraiser records the damage

The appraiser inspects the car in person, photographs every damage and prepares the defect list.

  5. Ready report

The finished report is ready 3–5 days after the inspection, and up to 7 days for 8 or more damaged parts.

What to keep before the inspection

  • Photos and a video of the damage, taken right after the accident.

  • Removed parts, if any have been taken off. Do not throw them away: show them to the appraiser.

  • Details of the accident: they are needed for an insurance case. We confirm the exact list when you contact us.

  • The owner’s passport and the vehicle registration document.

When repairs can start

Do not start repairs before the inspection: the damage has to stay in its original state.

After the inspection, ask the appraiser about the order of repairs. The finished report is ready 3–5 days after the inspection, and up to 7 days for 8 or more damaged parts.

How we help

The appraiser inspects the car in person, records the damage and prepares the report: the defect list and the calculation of the restoration cost at market prices for parts, labour and materials. The report is issued on paper, in two copies, signed and stamped by the appraiser.

The price of the assessment depends on the number of damaged parts: from 4 500 KGS for 1–2 parts to 7 000 KGS for 11 or more.

Questions about repairs and the assessment

What if the repairs have already started?

Stop the work if you can and message us on WhatsApp. The appraiser cannot record damage that has already been repaired, because it is no longer in its original state.

When can I start the repairs?

Not before the inspection. After it, ask the appraiser about the order of repairs. The finished report is ready 3–5 days after the inspection, and up to 7 days for 8 or more damaged parts.

The car is at an impound lot. Will the appraiser come?

Yes, within Bishkek and the suburbs. The appraiser goes to where the car is. The visit is paid as a surcharge: within the city — +1 000 KGS; to Dordoi, Magistral, Novopavlovka and Novopokrovka — +1 500 KGS; outside the city — from +2 000 KGS.

Do I need to keep the removed parts?

It is better to keep them: show them to the appraiser at the inspection. Tell us about them when you contact us.

Message us before the repairs start

Send us photos and a video of the damage. We will agree on the time of the inspection and tell you which documents you need. We work Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 18:00.
